Waterski
When thinking of water skiing, people often picture someone gliding on two skis through ocean waves during a summer vacation.
Not everyone knows that water skiing is a competitive sport with a rich history in Italy. In 1972, it was a demonstration sport at the Olympic Games, where Italian athlete Roby Zucchi won the gold medal! While water skiing has not been included in the Olympics since, its competitive season remains packed with events worldwide.

Slalom
The skier must complete a course of six buoys. After successfully running the pass, the rope is shortened, making it more challenging to reach the buoys. If the skier falls or misses a buoy, the run is over. The final score is determined by the number of buoys turned at the last not completed rope length.

Tricks
The skier has two 20-second passes to perform as many tricks as possible. The judges rank performances based on a scoring table, assigning points to each trick. Unlike slalom, a fall does not end the run but limits the number of tricks performed, ultimately affecting the final score.

Jump
Each skier has three attempts to jump out of the ramp, and the longest jump wins. While the boat speed is fixed, skiers can double their velocity by cutting aggressively across the wakes. As they hit the ramp, they experience G-forces up to ten times their body weight and have just a fraction of a second to push off and maximize distance through good air form.
